Nice game. Enjoyed it. Maybe add the hearts to the map.
If you want to make it a little harder, make the boss invincible while battling his minions. I waited for some slow opponents (jumping squares), killed one and then repeatedly lured the remaining under the platform and then freely sniped at the boss with the blue pellets.
I love this art and music style. If there is anything I would change it would be the menu intuitiveness and the variation of enemies, they felt quite tedious and annoying IMO
